About Sandra Childs This is my 22nd year teaching. I have spent most of those years at Franklin. This year (2013-14) I am teaching Psychology and Essential Skills, am the FHS Freshman First iPad & Innovation Instructional Specialist, FHS Writers In the School Liaison, FHS Slam Co-Chair, and FHS Toolbox administrator. I am a certified library media specialist and high school language arts and social studies teacher. I taught Global Studies, Women’s Literature, and Sophomore English at Franklin High from 1991-2008. 2011-12 I served as FHS Instructional Specialist to support teachers and students–team teaching, providing resources, facilitating staff development. I also got to travel with other educators to Costa Rica, helped launch the FHS Slam and Verselandia! I love jars of tea, people who make me laugh and share their music, good books, & pie. I graduated from Reed College (English), S.U.N.Y. Buffalo (Law), & Lewis & Clark (Education). I have a 17 year old daughter who keeps me up-to-date about everything teen and teenish. The three years I was not at Frankln I served as the teacher-librarian at Harrison Park (Clark Binnsmead )K-8 and at Jackson Middle School. I also served as Jackson’s writing coach in 09-10 and its Technology Facilitator in 10-11. I continue to work as a teacher-consultant for the Oregon Writing Project and am also a writer for Rethinking Schools. What do I read? Check out.
